9/24/2022.. the BEST day of my life. Jake and I are celebrating 4 year of marriage today! I feel like it was just yesterday I was having the time of my life planning our wedding!!
The biggest thing I’ve learned about this past year being married is how much you want to grow to become the best version of yourself for the people you love. Jake and I have been on a growth journey in our own ways but also walking hand in hand on it together. When you love someone you almost want to push yourself to be better for them. I owe it to myself to be the best person I can be but, I also want to become the best version of myself for my husband, the one who saw me at my lowest and still stayed. The one who works early mornings, late nights and does so much in between. Big or small it never goes unnoticed. I always say that I feel like my soul saw him and whispered to me “that’s home”. I’ve heard “the right person will make you fall in love 3 times; once with them, once with yourself and lastly once with life”. It took a lot of overthinking and working on myself to be able to relate to this. Don’t get me wrong, I still am. We are human and it’s not like this everyday but in this marriage we sure try to be 1% better then we were the day before. When the right person enters your life, it’s not just love. You learn many different forms about true love, it’s showing up for eachother day in and day out. It’s transformation and sometimes that can be very intimidating but also inspiring in so many ways. It’s being able to motivate each other. It’s being able to know the darkest, deepest things about them but not live in the past. Instead, it’s to help each other see what one does not see for themselves. Help them rise and heal and grow into the person they’re meant to be. That. That is love.
Like every anniversary, we watch our wedding video and look through our wedding pictures. So today I wanted to share it with you all. Something this special deserves a permanent spot of the blog! We had our amazing wedding pictures done by A Ghra Camerawork (William and Kristine Becker). And our wedding video done by the great Baxter Colburn from Colburn Creative.
When it comes to planning a wedding you always wonder what are things we want and what are some things we can skip out on. You almost always say yes to wedding pictures, which I am VERY thankful both WIlliam and Kristine were able to capture all the big and little things. Kristine got to see me grow up so it was extremely special and felt like such a full circle moment.
Now, many tend to skip out on a wedding video. Yes, I speak from experience, at first we didn’t think we wanted a wedding video, but after we saw how amazing Baxter had captured our engagement pictures, we knew we wanted him for this too. Baxter did an amazing job at capturing who we really are and the love that surrounds us. So, this is your sign…get a wedding videographer, you won’t regret it I promise!! Now enjoy a few minutes of the best day of my life!!
JJ, I don’t think I’ll ever finish falling in love with you. Thank you for being the calm to my chaos. No measure of time will be long enough with you, but forever is a good place to start. I love you today, tomorrow and always. Happy 4th Anniversary my handsome husband!
