My husband & I have been on a fitness journey, he’s been committed to it longer than I have. I am still going through all the trial and errors and finding what works best for me and my body. Recently I have been trying to use protein as a filler in some of my meals so that I don’t feel the need to constantly snack. I was looking on Amazon for some healthier options for snacks and then this ProDough Protein Shop popped up as a suggestion.
After looking more into it, I liked the options they had and loved that they even have recipe ideas listed. I decided to give it a try. So, we got the pumpkin spice pancake mix and the vanilla protein cupcake mix. I decided to try the pumpkin spice mix first due to the current season we’re in. The instructions were super easy. I love how basic they kept them and as well as the ingredients, you know everything you’re putting into your food which I love because Jake & I are trying to be more mindful about that!! They give you options on the back of the bag if you’d like to convert the mix into a waffle mix like I did! The best part was the flavor was amazing, just the right amount of pumpkin and spice without it being too over the top. The texture was not “chalky” like other recipes that have protein in them!!
Here’s you’ll need:
- 1 Measuring Cup
- 1 Tablespoon
- Waffle Maker ( I have this pumpkin shaped waffle maker from Dash which worked out perfectly for this recipe.)
Ingredients:
- ⅔ Milk ( I used this oat milk because it’s what I had.)
- 1 whole egg
- ½ cup ProDough Protein Pancake Mix
- ½ cup water
- ½ tbsp oil
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Mix pancake batter well until there are no lumps and let it sit once mixed for a few minutes.
- Set your waffle maker to medium heat then spray the inside with cooking spray or a little butter.
- Pour batter evenly into your maker.
- When ready, serve warm and top with whatever you like. I personally poured a little caramel on top
Keep in mind you can certainly try using a different protein mix into a pancake batter, but because I am still learning about protein and healthier food options I love how this was ready to go. All I had to do was prep and make the waffles. So if you decide to try any of their products or this recipe let me know how you like it! I’d love to know your thoughts!
Till Next Time,
Jacquie
